4 States in 4 Days
After riding through Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi; today I added
Florida to the list for the week.
Got up this morning and met my Patriot
Guard Ride crew in Alabama.
Brother Mullet was there and most of the regulars.
Mullet is standing on the right
hand side.
We rode over to Pensacola and I must
have hit a nail or something as we turned around in a parking
lot..
My rear tire went down pretty fast but I was close to a service station
and pulled in.
I had forgotten how hard it is to ride on a flat. I was all over
the road.
A vacationing biker on a chopper
and his son pulled up for gas and saw our problem.
He offered to go back to the hotel and get his trailer... and
did. We had a little bit of a
problem getting my long bike in but managed to do it. It was a
covered trailer.
Harold and son Justice
They hauled me over to the local Honda
shop and they have it in que to be fixed.
They pulled out a new tire so I'm glad I brought a credit card. This is a fine shop with
a nice customer waiting area complete with internet access and lots to
look at.
Plenty of eye candy too!!!
UPDATE: Job Complete around
12:00 noon.
As I was waiting in the dealer
driveway for traffic to clear on the road in front of the Honda shop,
a woman in a van backs out of a parking space from the business next
door and slowly rolls in my direction.
I holler and wave my arm for her to stop but she just keeps backing up
slowly in my direction.
I yelled loud as I could to no avail. She finally gets so close
that I banged on the back door of the
vehicle with my fist as hard as I could and screamed STOP! She
slammed on brakes about 1 foot
shy of my right leg. I re-injured my right shoulder in the
process.
I checked the traffic and vacated the
scene as soon as I could. By this time,
she's pulling back up and opening the door to get out.
I rendezvoused with my PGR buddies at
the local Red Lobster and showed them the rubber marks
on my hand from where I hit the spare tire. They couldn't believe
it. "We need to get you home", Zeb says.
I figured the worse was over for today
and had a great ride back home.
Called Bear on one of my break
points and checked on him. Seems he too added insult to injury
by falling out of bed trying to get to the phone.
I (we) may need to be still until we
leave for the rally...
